At 6:30 a.m., the activist Iván Rubio Fabre was heading to the Santiago de Cuba to participate in a Mass at Catholic church Santuario del Cobre to ask for the freedom of political prisoners and for the cessation of political oppression. He was detained at San Lino street between the avenue Camilo Cienfuegos and the 1 Sur by State Security officials known as Alayo and Raúl and driven to the police unit where he had to remain until 11:20 a.m.
