Yaritza was threatened by a State Security agent, known as Danilo, and the sector chief of the area. The threat was that they would keep her under surveillance and prosecute her for any crime if on September 25 Yaritza went out to vote in the referendum on the new family code. She was told that on that day she could not leave her home and that she could even lose custody of her daughter.
