A freelancer from Pinar del Río harassed by police

Lázaro Otoniel Lacher Cárdenas is a self-employed citizen who sells snacks near Provincial Hospital Abel Santamaría in Pinar del Río.On that day at about 10 am, two female inspectors appeared at that place and asked for his seller's license. When Lázaro showed his documents, the officers took them and without any explanation they told him to pick it up at the Inspection and Supervision Office. Lázaro did as he was instructed, but when he arrived, he was told that his license was not there and was advised to go to the office prosecuting illegal activity which belongs under the National Revolutionary Police (PNR). There, he was given back his license, however, he had to also pay a fine 700 pesos without any explanation why. Lázaro said that it was an abuse of power and his labour rights were being violated. At this moment, a policeman approached him and warned him that if he continued with his comments, he would be put in a prison cell.
