Martínez Matos was demonstrating against the regime in his neighborhood, demanding decent wages, food and improvements in the quality of life of the Cuban people. For this reason, he was arrested and taken to the Parque 24 Police Unit, where he was detained for 48 hours. He was released with an economic sanction and a warning.
