An activist José Luis Gomes Cueto was on his way to Santiago de Cuba province to participate in a march conducted to demand the release of political prisoners and to end the repression against activists. At 5:40 am, he was detained at the checkpoint in Cayamo by the police and the State Security officials, all of them following orders issued by Lt. Col. Cantillo, the chief of the State Security in Caimanera. The victim along with other activists started protesting and expressing their opion that the detention had been carried out without any reason or official order. That´s why the detention turned violent and all activist were driven to the Police Department. They were threatened with imprisonment and few hours later released.
