The activist Karen was heading to the Catholic Church to participate in Sunday Mass which was being conducted to support the Ladies in White organization and the campaign "Todos Marchamos" that was demaning freedom for political prisoners. At 6 am, she was detained at a police checkpoint of by Lieutenant Colonel Cantillo, Major Montalvo and the National Revolutionary Police. Karen was put into a police vehicle and taken to the police station where she was kept until noon.
