Independent journalist detained on the street and threatened

When human rights defender José Ernesto Morales Estrada was walking down the central José Martí Street in Pinar del Río Province, he was detained by four police officers, accusing him of disrespect for authorities. He was driven to the provincial police headquarters and threatened with being beaten up. When the senior official Major Montano was not present, his junior colleague with a badge no. 12296 scolded José Ernesto severely. He was released two hours later with a so-called transit fine.
