On December 6, 2015, the activist Héctor López Pérez was heading to Santiago de Cuba to attend Mass in the Basílica Santuario del Cobre. In San Gregorio Street and Camilo Cienfuegos Avenue he was attacked by the anti-riot forces of National Revolutionary Police and State Security officials who beat him. Then he was taken to the Criminal Intrusion Unit. After that, he was transfered to the Municipal police department in Yatera. At 7 pm he was realeased and had to go to the hospital where he was refused. According to the Radio Martí, he was not provided any medical treatment.
