An independent journalist is arrested at his home for sharing his opinions through public networks.

On February 6, 2020, three individuals in civilian clothes and without an arrest warrant appeared at the home of Boris González Arenas, an independent journalist. By refusing to accompany them, he was taken with violence to the Zapata y C police station in the Vedado district of the capital. After being in the jail for an hour, Boris was taken before an inspector of the Ministry of Communications who confiscated his cell phone and imposed a fine of 3,000 CUP (€ 120) for disseminating information through public networks that is considered opposing to the social interest, morality, good manners and integrity of people. Later, Adiel Félix García Sánchez, head of the sector of the National Revolutionary Police of the Boris neighborhood, fined him for not attending summons and issued him a warning. Upon leaving, State Security agents took Boris back to the same cell where he had been before, mediating threats of all kinds while they were driving him. Moments later they handcuffed him and drove him in another patrol car to the San Miguel del Padrón police station and where, after a while, they released him.
