Officials threatened activist in front of his wife and son

At 8 pm, when the human rights defender Lázaro Luis Ruiz Echevarria was at the city bus stop, meeting up with his wife and son, he found himself the victim of threats and repression. This occurred when a black Lada brand car belonging to the State Security approached the area. The chief of the Security of the municipality of Pinar del Rio, Lieutenant Coronel Beune, Captain Juan Pérez, and Chief of the Sector were all in that same car. The officers abruptly forced the human rights defender into the car, saying that the Chief only wanted to talk to him. Lázaro expressed that if they wanted to talk, they should send him a formal appointment notice and he would show up for it. The officials warned him that he would go to prison soon if he continued this behavior. The activist expressed that he was afraid at that time because the Chief of the Sector forced him by the head and the arm into the car in front of his 14-year-old son, who his wife had to calm down when they threatened him.
