An activist arrested and charged for religious assault in Pinar del Río



September 1, 2015 at 5:00 pm the human rights activist Carlos Alberto Rodriguez Seruto entered peacefully in San Rosendo Catholic Church in Pinar del Río. When he was within he said he wanted to stay there until the Pope arrived on 19 September to Cuba. The local priest called the police which effected in the early morning (1:00 am) an operation. A specialized police took him out of the church and transported him to an Operational Research Center. There he was judged and warned inscribing him an assault on a religious center and thus could be put in jail. In the end they only warned and threat him being released nine hours later on the outskirts of the city of Pinar del Río.
