Félix Navarro Rodríguez, former political prisoner and human rights activist from the municipality of Perico, was prevented from traveling to the neighboring municipality Colón, on Friday, 15 November. When he was about 50 metres from his house, he was stopped by a secret police officer who refused to show him her ID. She told him that he cannot leave his house unless he has an official judicial document. When Navarro Rodríguez heard that, he said that his house was not a prison cell and that in this case, she should call a patrol car. In a while, policeman Wilfredo Angel Meneses appeared at the spot and found a car to transport the former political prisoner. He was driven to the police unit in Perico and released at 2:30 pm. It should be noted that Navarro Rodríguez had been also detained on Tuesday, 12 November, when heading to the police station in Cárdenas in order to submit a complaint. The police then kept surrounded his house on 12, 13 and 14 November, the action which was relaunched on 15 November and continued until 17 November.
