Activist detained at the police station and prevented from traveling to Panama

Felipe Carrera Hernández, trade union activist from the municipality of the Old Havana, received on 14 November an official summons to arrive at the police station in San Miguel del Padrón on the next day. When he got there at 3 pm, he was immediately put in a prison cell. On the next day, 16 November at 11 am, he was released without any explanation. The true reason for his detention was the fact, that the police needed to prevent him from traveling to Panama - a flight he was supposed to board on the same day in the morning when he was released. Felipe Carrera had been invited to attend a trade union workshop organized by the University of Latin American Workers (UTAL).
