Raúl Martínez Caraballo arbitrarily detained and psychologically blackmailed

On 5.9.2017, agents of State Security and the National Revolutionary Police raided the house of activist Raúl Martínez Caraballo without showing a search warrant. They occupied a computer, a radio, several documents and books. Then he was transferred to the Police Unit of Manuel Tames. Shortly after, they took there in a patrol car also their underage son, Noe Martínez Avile, in handcuffs. Then Raúl was transferred to the Operations Unit for Crimes against State Security. During the two transfers he was threatened by officers called Eusebio Barzaga and Orlando Castillo, who threatened him with death. On September 8 they took him out of the dungeon and told him that his son Noe had been accused of an attack and was told that his freedom depended on him - if he collaborated with them, they would released his son. Raúl did not accept these conditions and his son continues to be accused.
