An inmate at the Guantanamo Provincial Prison was brutally beaten for protesting against the prison leaders.



On the morning of May 27, 2014, Abel Delgado Romero, was attacked with batons and pepper gas in his cell by the Second Lieutenant Yoennis Pérez Rodríguez and the First Sub-officer Aliandri López Rodríguez along with others military members. Abel was beaten after he protested against the leaders of the provincial prison of Guantánamo for not providing them enough food and that most times it arrived in a state of decomposition. After being beaten and passed out, the military removed him from the cell where he was isolated for being HIV positive.
