Trade union activist detained after having visited a former prisoner at his house

On Monday, 2 September at 2:20 pm, Roque Iván Martínez Beldarrain was detained on the street in Aguada de Pasajeros when he was on his way back home. In the morning, he had visited, along with two other colleagues from the trade unions, the former prisoner Iván Hernández Carillo at his house. As the secret police deployed their patrol cars around, Martínez Beldarrain was detained and driven to the police station in Aguada de Pasajeros. Once they arrived, they searched all his belongings and told him to take off his clothes. They confiscated her a copy of a complaint she submitted with the police in Colón in August for the detention she had been subjected to. They damaged the document and told her that the complaint will not be proceeded. They issued for him an official warning (Acta de Advertencia) and told him that he can no more go to Colón. Finally, he was transferred to the police station in Cienfuegos and then released at 5:15 pm.
