Rubén Alvarado Reyes was at the meeting at Rubén Alvarado´s house in Palmarito del Cauto where one of the UNPACU´s group - Liberty and Democracy, has regular weekly sessions. Suddenly, the National Revolutionary Police and State Security officials broke into the house, damaged part of the house and detained all participants. Rubén was forced to join a military transport and was driven 50 km away, near a place known San German in the Holguín Province. At that place, he was beaten and the official took him his shoes, so he had to go home barefooted. He arrived home at 8:30 pm.
