Human rights defensor is constantly threatened for his activities

Luis Manuel Montero Chamizo is a human rights defensor in Pinar del Río Province and participates in activities organized by Christian Democratic Union of Cuba. His political engagement has already provoked persecution by State Security and Luis Manuel is constantly being a victim of detentions and threats. On February 19, 2016, he was visited by Lieutenant Colonel Mario Ortega Morales, State Security Chief in the province, who told him, that thanks to his links to human rights activists, he would be under a constant control of the Ministry of the Interior and he could be easily put in jail.
