Bartolo Cantillo Romero is a human rights activist from Guantánamo and a member of the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU). His house serves as the UNPACU headquarters in Guantánamo. On 3 April 2021, his house was placed under police surveillance as various activists went on a hunger strike starting on 20 March. The hunger strike was triggered by José Daniel Ferrer, the current national coordinator of UNPACU, and was joined by other activists and supporters in and outside Cuba in order to demand the end of repression and harassment against the dissidents.
