Human rights activist detained when heading to Mass and threatened by the State Security



On Sunday, 18 November 2018, at 10 am, when the human rights defender and the Lady in White Aleida Caridad Cofiño Rivera was about to leave her house for the Mass as all the other members of the movement Ladies in White, she was arbitrary detained by the State Security officials known as Ramón, Tapanes y Ronaldo. The officials prevented her from participating in the Mass and immediately transported her to the police station in the municipality of Carlos Rojas. During the detention, she was mistreated and strongly threatened. She remained in detention until 6 pm and then she was released. Before she left, she was warned that if she got involved in the same activities once more, they would see each other again.
