Activist prevented from leaving Cuba and participating in an event in Europe

Sissi Abascal Zamora is a human rights activist engaged in the Party for Democracy Pedro Luis Boitel Abraham and in the Movement Ladies in White. On Thursday, 29 August, she was banned from boarding her flight at 10:45 pm heading to Europe where she was supposed to attend an event on gender equality. According to the officials at the José Martí International Airport in Havana, Terminal 3, she was temporary restricted from leaving the country. Last year in April, she experienced the same restriction at the same terminal while she was heading to Argentine.
