Two thieves stole two mares from Miladis, and she saw the thieves and complained to the Police, and despite the police catching the thieves, they released them without charges. In response, Miladis spread flyers with antigovernmental messages such as "Down with Raúl" (“Abajo Raúl”) and "Down with Communism" (“Abajo el Comunismo”), among others. Police officers stopped her at her house along with her daughter, and they took her to the police station of Banes. She was released after being detained for 48 hours, with a fine of 1000 Cuban Pesos (38€) for allegedly committing public disturbances.
