UNPACU activist detained and threatened



An activist Alejandro Riquene Coy was on his way to Santiago de Cuba Province to Santuario del Cobre to attend Mass which was being held to demand the release of political prisoners and the end of political repression in Cuba. At 6 am, when he was travelling by bus along with other UNPACU activists, he was detained by several State Security officials. They took him to the Police Department in Caimanera and released him several hours later. During his detention, he was threatened with imprisonment and received an official warning for his activities against the Revolution.
