Communist party member was arrested and intimidated for criticizing the Cuban government



On the afternoon of August 19, Ms. Marlenis Matos Gainsa was the victim of detention and intimidation by the political police and officials of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) for the simple act of exercising her right to freedom of expression. This woman expressed publicly that there was much repression against the people and that the only thing it was bringing was more discontent and discomfort in the population. The woman was denounced by Daniel Domínguez Díaz, custodian of the school known as Matachin located on Calixto García Street, who called the police to arrest Ms. Marlenis after hearing her make these statements in front of the school. Despite being a member of the communist party, she was a victim of psychological punishment and intimidation because she allegedly made the mistake of speaking ill of the revolution.
