Pregnant woman arrested and beaten by the police



In the early morning of 19th September, 2018, Karen Garcia was on her way home with a friend, when they crossed the street where a public fight was taking place and were arrested by the police. Karen complained to the officers about the unfairness of the arrests and made it clear to them that she was pregnant at 10 weeks. However, the two women were taken to the 2nd unit of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) Tunas where they were beaten by officers Wilber Barban Ortiz and Captain Ennolis Espinoza Molina. They were given bail of 1000 Cuban pesos ($33) to be released.
