Aleida Cofiño Rivera was arrested when she left her house to participate in mass at church. She was taken to the Jovellanos Police Station in police car number 533. They kept her at the reception of the station the entire time. During the arrest, the corresponding Detention Act was not lifted and she was not allowed to make a telephone call as established by law. Before being released, Ramón Pérez García, an officer of the political police, showed her a folder to sign a fine imposed under the law, the second arbitrarily put on her in less than a month, all for trying to attend mass dressed in white.
