A United Anti-Totalitarian Forum representative detained for 1 week after police provocation



At 11:30, when José Rolando Casares Soto, a United Anti-Totalitarian Forum (FANTU) representative in Pinar del Río, was going to attend Leadership and Governance training organized by Florida Inernational University, he was surprised by one of the State Security collaborators in San Juan Central Park. José was suddenly attacked by him and when he fighed back, there was immediately police officer known as Lazaro el Apretao. José was handcuffed and beaten over his head. After that, he was at first taken to the local police station and from here to the National Revolutionary Police Station in Pinar del Río. He was kept under arrest for 1 week and during that time accused of assault on police officer. He was released on bail amounting 1000 pesos.
