Amauris Avelenda was going to participate in the march Todos Marchamos organized by the UNPACU, when he was detained and forced by pushes to gett off the car by the political police. They left him standing at the side of the road along with other UNPACU activists. After spending a few hours there, he was put in a car and taken to the Mella Revoucionaria Nacional Police where he was threatened to death in case he continued his activism at the UNPACU.
