Independent journalist interrogated and threatened at the police station



On 14 November, 2018, at 10:30 am, human rights defender and independent journalist Madelyn Rodríguez Martín arrived at the police station, Department of Migration and Foreign affairs. Rodríguez Martín was summoned the day before in the night hours by the State Security official who identified himself as Captain Otoniel. Her stay at the police station turned into interrogation and harassement by the official. The reason was to get detailed information about her trip abroad she had undetaken in the past days in order to attend a capacity building training on human rights. The confrontation took two hours and was finished by a threat with travel ban from that moment.
