The human rights defender and the leader of the Cuba Independent and Democratic Party (CID) Rolando Pupo Carralero was detained at 2 p.m. in San Juan y Martinez. In the police station. He was interrogated by the head of the State Security Major Alaya who used violent expressions, threats and showed disrespect. Ayala threatened him with initiating a proceeding and would present it at the Prosecutor's Office if he continued with his activities in the ombudsman's office. After the interrogation, fingerprints and scents were taken and the officers gave him a warning claiming that if he continued with his activities, he would be prosecuted for disobedience. He was put in a prison without any justification. Around 8 p.m., his brothers Yusniel and Yordan de Pupo Carralero, both members of the CID, appeared in the unit to demand an explanation. They were also threatened with being detained if they continued to protest, but they informed Orestes Ayala that if they do not let him go, they will appear in front of the police unit and start a formal protest to demand his release. Rolando Pupo Carralero was released at four o'clock on the following day, under threats and blackmailing.
