Human rights activist prevented from participating in Mass and threatened with imprisonment

A Lady in White Caridad Burunate Gómez left her house and was heading to the church in order to attend Mass and pray for prisoners, on Sunday, 21 October 2018. Suddenly, she was stopped by political police officers and prevented from reaching her destination. She was detained and driven to one of the offices of so-called Cooperativa del VI Congreso. Before being released, she was approached by a young officer who introduced himself as Lieutenant Colonel Magdiel. He ordered her to quit the opposition and leave the country. He threatened her with another detention next Sunday, 28 October. Finally, he told her she could be put in prison.
