At 10:30 am, the police was doing a regular check, when Omar Mauri Oliva, a political activist from Sancti Spíritus and a member of the Cuban Reflection Movement, was selling his agricultural products in the municipality of Sur del Jíbaro in Sancti Spírutus province. When policemen checked his identity, they immediately changed the attitude and Omar was driven to the National Revolutionary Police Station. There, he was kept for 55 hours and released on August 22 at 5:30 in the afternoon. The officials confiscated the agricultural products he was selling, without having provided him with any document about the confiscation.
