UNPACU activist detained and threatened



On March 12, 2016, an activist Raúl Martínez Caraballo was going to attend Mass in the Santuario del Cobre in Santiago de Cuba province. The Mass was conducted to demand the release of political prisoners and to end police oppression. At 6 am, he was detained in Jamaica, a municipality he lives in. State Security official Arturo took him to the Police Department in Jamaica and threatened him with an arrest in case he continued participating in counterrevolutionary activities. He was also told that he was no longer allowed to travel to Guantánamo on Saturdays. This case was broadcasted on Radio Martí and in the Associated Press (AP).
