UNPACU activist threatened and guarded in Guantanamo



Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU) activist Justo Elias Franco Jimenez was intercepted by sector chief Captain Reinaldo Rodriguez and two more officers as the activist was heading home. Captain Rodriguez attacked the activist, telling him all kinds of insults and intimidating threats, and letting him see that if he left his house during the days that the trial of the Santiago de Cuba oppositionist was taking place, he would end up in the Guantanamo compound. The activist responded by defending his freedom, the officer reiterated his warning and advised him not to get into trouble. The activist remained under surveillance by the political police all day 26th February until late at night.
