On 2 August 2020, at about 6 am, joint forces consisting of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) and the State Security (DSE) arrested an activist from the Cuban Reflection Movement (MCR), Aurelio Cabrera González. The detention took place at victim's place on Plácido Street in Sancti Spíritus. Then he was taken to a prison cell at the 1st PNR Unit in his city of residence. There he was kept for 72 hours and during that period, the victim was on hunger strike. After the release, Aurelio headed to the hospital Policlínico Sur in the same city and asked for intramuscular multivitamin and mineral injection. However, he was refused due to the lack of syringes for that purpose.
