Human rights activist detained and threatened by State Security in Banes

On 8 October, 2020, an activist from the Eastern Democratic Alliance, Leonardo Ramón Viamonte, was detained. The detention took place in a neighborhood called Cortadera in the municipality of Banes when he was coming back home from an event organized along with local activists from Los Pinos. Ramón Viamonte was detained by a State Security official Gustavo who put him in a patrol car. Then he was taken to the police station where he was threatened with imprisonment in case he came back.
