María de las Mercedes was going to attend Mass in Santa Catalina de Ricci Church. When she was walking down Camilo Cienfuegos Avenue and Los Maceos Street, he was detained by State Security officials (DSE) known as Antoni and Alex. She was taken to the DSE Detention Center where she was kept for 2 hours.
