Man beaten by prison officers after requesting medical attention

Mr. Jesús Gómez Nico, who is a person with a disability, was the victim of a beating by Pablo González Ruíz (captain and head of internal order) and Álvaro Cantillo Abad (non-commissioned officer), both part of the Baracoa Municipal Prison. The reason for the aggressions was that Mr. Gómez requested medical attention, which he had been asking for more than a week at the time he was beaten. Because his request was ignored, he said he would go on hunger strike until he was attended to by medical personnel, at which time he was beaten with batons by the officers mentioned before.
