A young man shot dead on the beach for trying to leave Cuba illegaly

On Thursday April 9, 2015, 30-years-old Yuriniesky Martinez Reina was shot dead, while he was trying to leave Cuba illegally with his companions, in the area known as Pinar of Playa Menendez in the municipality of Marti. It was approximately 2:00 pm when the shots rang out and all present, who were expecting the departure, began to run. Yuriniesky Martinez Reina stumbled and fell on the ground. The political police officer Miguel Angel Rioseco shot him in the left lung at a distance of about 20 meters. The young man laid facedown on the ground. On Saturday April 11, after intensive search, his corpse was found. The police officer responsible for his death did not inform anyone about the body and tried to hide it. The victim left a 3-years-old baby. Miguel Angel Rioseco was tried for the crime of homicide on June 2, 2015. According to the final sentence, he was condemned to 13 years deprivation of liberty. It is unknown in which prison he remains.
