Activist prevented from leaving the country at the Havana Airport

On Friday, 19 April, an activist José Díaz Silva was prevented from travelling to Miami. The flight was scheduled for 8 am from the José Martí International Airport in Havana. Even if he had a valid flight ticket, he was informed by the migration officers that he was banned from leaving the country. However, Díaz Silva, knowing that his passport expires on 24 September, double-checked in advance with the relevant authority that there was no restriction for his travel.
