Human rights defender detained and threatened when trying to make audiovisual reports

Indomar Goméz Izaguirre left his house along with his wife in order to prepare audiovisual reports for an independent project the Palenque Visión. Before he was able to get to the place where he was supposed to make the video, two State Security (DSE) officials together with two policemen who did not identify themselves, detained him. He was then taken to the third police unit. There, the officials told him that they knew he was about to prepare the videos, because an activist Rolando Rodríguez Lobaina had visited the province and they supposed he would do that. They confiscated him a cell phone and threatened him with imprisonment as he was still on probation. He was then given two official warnings. The first one for publishing information on the social media and the second one for misusing his journalistic profession since he allegedly does not posses the necessary credentials to practice the journalistic work. He was released approximately four hours later after his detention without any further consequences.
