Independent journalist detained and threatened by State Security

At 2 pm, when human rights defender Eliosbel Garriga Cabreras was on his way home, he was arbitrary detained at the exit of the municipality of Candelaria, Artemisa Province. First, a red car belonging to the State Security stopped and an official got off the car without indentifying himself. He told Eliosbel to get on the car or he will be put inside by force. Once inside, he was driven to the police station where he was searched and the officials confiscated his cell phone and money. Then he was put in a prison cell. After having spent there some time, he was given something to eat. Next day at about 1 pm, he was taken out from the prison cell and driven to an office where he was received by a State Security official responsible for the municipality of Candelaria. He returned the phone to Eliosbel, but without a SIM card. When Eliosbel asked also for the money back, he did not get them. Eliosbel did not want to reveal the amount since the money was intended as a financial support for his organization. He was released with an official warning which stated that if he returned to that place, he would be put in jail.
