Sarahi Peréz was detained and repudiated by agents of the State Security and National Police, after having participated in a mass in the church Santa Rita de Casia when she was going to deposit flowers in the sea to honor the memory of the victims of the "13 March Tugboat disaster". She was taken to the Tarara detention center where she was held for 5 hours.
