Bartolo was on his way to the polling station in order to excercise his right and vote in the constitutional referendum. When he was passing through Calixto García and 3 Sur Streets, several State Security (DSE) agents led by an official known as Yuniel or Rolando, detained him. First they drove him to the DSE detention centre called Operations. Then, they took him to the police station in the municipality of Yateras which is located about 50 kilometres from his place. He was given an official warning for promoting YoNoVoto (I don't vote) campaign against the constitutional referendum and they accused him of sabotaging the elections. He was released at about 5 am on the next day without being transported back to his place.
