Human rights defensor detained for 31 hours



At 10 am, a human rights defensor and a member of Democratic and Independent Cuba Party Alexander Sanchez Villa Franca was summoned to the Police Department in San Juan and Martinez. When he got there, he was detained for an alleged theft, however the man who accused him wasn´t in the Pinar del Río Province at that moment. Alexander was kept under detention for 31 hours and interrogated by Lieutenant Sabala. Sabala warned him to stop his counterrevolutionary activities and to prevent his wife from publishing counterrevolutionary and subversive articles. He was released after a group of independent lawayer arrived at the station and confirmed he was innocent.
