Police threatens an independent journalist from Baracoa over the phone

On 25 April 2019, at 10:30 am, Alfredo Olivero, the head of the confrontation unit in Baracoa, made a phone call in order to threaten an activist Emilio Almaguer de la Cruz. He told him that if he dared to leave his house on 1 May, he would be put in jail. The official also assured him that there had been a direct order claiming that no member of the opposition, activist, journalist or human rights defender would be allowed to go out. According to the official, all of them are mercenaries and there will be soon new measures implemented to control them.
