On the way to his home in Manzanillo, while waiting at the bus station in Palma Soriano, he was detained by agents of the political police and taken to the PNR of Palma Soriano. They left him detained for several hours in the PNR, where he was insulted and threatened in order to discourage him from activism in UNPACU. He was taken at 5 am to Bayamo where the officers left him on the outskirts of the town.
