Esmeli, an activist, was on way to house of his son who was ill, when Modesto Alarcon Eace asked him why he was laughing. That fact was sufficient reason to start to beat the victim until he was unconscious with fractures of the septum, the jaw and two ribs. At the hospital, his wife had to demand better medical care because the political police had intervened, so the specialist never came to see him again. The following day, they had to return home without receiving adequate medical care.
