Ricardo Fernández Izaguirre works as a journalist for 14ymedio newspaper, he carries out several Christian projects and participartes in human rights activities in the region. On October 21, he was summoned to the police station in Pinar del Río to discuss the search which took place on September 23 in Ricardo´s house. When Ricardo arrived, all State Security officials, Lieutenant Colonel Beunne, Captain Simon and Captain Juan Perez were present. Ricardo was threatened that he would be shortly put in jail for enemy propaganda and for being an editor of counterrevolutionary magazine called Panorama Pinareño. Moreover, he was told that his family would be persecuted as well and he wouldn´t be given back his confiscated things. Ricardo was released four hours later.
