The disruption of a march, detention of Felix Navarro Rodriguez

After the Mass in the church of Santa Rita de Casia, the march of the Ladies in White started. At 28th Street, where the march was heading, the combined forces of the Ministry of the Interior (CDR and the national police, led and trained by the political police) were expecting them and shouting phrases in favor of the dictatorship, for example: "This street is a Fidel's street". Felix Navarro Rodriguez was promptly arrested, handcuffed and placed in a van-cage, where there have been already seven other persons in the same conditions as Felix Navarro. They all were taken to the Vivac, the assembly center for arrested people of the Ministry of the Interior. After removing the handcuffs, the police took their personal data. They were kept standing outside of the area of cells, waiting for a key that had never come. In this way they were tortured for more than three hours. They could not sit anywhere as there were not any banks or anything to sit on. Felix Navarro was released at 8:45 pm and he was driven home, where they returned him his mobile phone. He was not allowed to make a phone call to his family during the time he remained under arrest, despite his demands.
